Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior will be sidelined for the next few weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury, the La Liga champions revealed on Monday.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has suffered an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg, as reported by a medical statement from the club.

“Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Vini Jr., he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” Real Madrid wrote on the club website.

Vinicius, who played the full length of their 3-0 win against Leganes on Sunday, teed up Kylian Mbappe for Madrid’s opener. He suffered the injury at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

Vinicius is expected to be out for at least a month, which means he will miss their trip to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The Brazil international has 12 goals and six assists in 17 matches for Los Blancos this season, including eight goals and five assists in La Liga, where they sit in second place, four points behind leaders Barcelona.
