AFCON Final: Reaction Trails President Tinubu’s U-Turn
Reports making the round have it that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will not attend the grand finale of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, Abidjan when Nigeria’s Super Eagles lock horns with hosts Cote D’Ivoire.
On Friday, the President of Africa Football governing body (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe had revealed that President Tinubu was scheduled to visit the West African country to see the finale.
However in a twist of events, the President has directed his Vice, Kashim Shettima to lead other government functionaries to the Francophone country to give the team support.
It will be recalled that Senator Shettima was in Cote D’Ivoire for Nigeria’s triumph in the Semi Final at the expense of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
According to reports, more than twenty state governors, senators and members of the Federal House Of Representatives are scheduled to jet in for the final.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have reacted differently to the development as the finale draws closer.
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu will no longer attend the Africa Cup of Nations’ final match that pitches Nigeria against hosts Cote d’Ivoire in Abidjan on Sunday.
He will now be represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima who also stood in for him at the semi-final match…
