Peseiro Reportedly Set For Super Eagles Exit
According to Nigerian football website owngoalNigeria, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro will leave the team at the end of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations irrespective of how the tournament wraps up.
The Portuguese tactician has taken the three time African Champions to the Semi Final of the AFCON, and could lead the team to its first African title since 2013.
With the team set to face Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday in Bouake, the source says Peseiro is set for a rare exit.
Prior to the AFCON, the Nigeria Football Federation handed Peseiro a contract that will come to an end at the end of the continental showpiece, albeit with an option to extend by two more years if he takes the team to the semi final.
However, Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek has reportedly offered Peseiro more than he’s earning as the Super Eagles coach. owngoalNigeria also claims he will be unveiled as the coach of the Giza based side immediately at the end of the AFCON
