AFCON: Alleged Rift, Peseiro Clears Air On Relationship With Iheanacho
Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has put to rest insinuations that he’s not in good terms with Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho.
Peseiro let this out at the Pre Match Press conference held today ahead of Saturday’s round of 16 clash with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, Abidjan.
While reacting to questions on why the former Manchester City striker did not play in the group stage, the Portuguese tactician said “People try to confuse and bring up issues, if we had issues, Kelechi would either stay at home or stay in Leicester”.
“You know Kelechi got injured, you know he recovered after getting here, you know he arrived at 4:40 in the night and couldn’t start training with us until even a day after, so that’s the reason why he didn’t play”
The coach however hinted that Iheanacho will play a part in Saturday’s clash with the five time African Champions.
