Done Deal: PSG appoints Luis Enrique as new head coach

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have announced the appointment of Luis Enrique as their new head coach on a two-year contract valid until 2025.

The ex-Barcelona boss replaces the embattled Christophe Galtier, who was sacked earlier today amid racism allegations against him.

“I’m delighted to be joining Paris in order to enjoy a new experience,” Enrique told club media.

“It’s so exciting to meet new people, to live in this city, to learn a new language and, above all, to manage PSG.”

Enrique joins PSG with a stacked resume that includes the Champions League, La Liga, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Supercopa de Espana, and Copa del Rey, all won during his time with the Blaugrana.

The 53-year-old returns to club management for the first time since he departed Barcelona in June 2017 but his last managerial job was as head coach of Spain’s La Roja.

Enrique led Spain to the semi-finals of EURO 2020 as well as a second-place finish in the UEFA Nations League in 2021, but their abysmal outing in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year led to the termination of his contract.
