Man City’s Grealish earns praise for Man-of-the-Match display in Liverpool thrashing
Jack Grealish put in his best performance in a Manchester City shirt this season as the Citizens thumped Liverpool 4-1 in Saturday’s Premier League early kick off, drawing the praise of fans on social media.
City had to do without the league’s top marksman, Erling Haaland, who is nursing a knee injury, but other players shined and Grealish was the stand-out star with his goal and also assist for Julian Alvarez’s strike.
Grealish has been involved in 12 goals (four goals, eight assists) this season in all competitions, making it his best goal-involvement return for City since he joined from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then-British transfer record of ยฃ100 million.
Questions have been raised about Grealish’s abilities since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium as his earlier performances were not suggestive of his price tag, however, fans having second thoughts about the 27-year-old, with some asserting his display against Liverpool is precisely why City paid so much to get him.
