Fans question dismissal of Man Utd’s Casemiro against Southampton

Manchester United fans have taken to social media to vent their anger with referee Anthony Taylor after he showed a straight  red card to Casemiro in their goalless draw with Southampton on Sunday.

Erik Ten Hag’s men had to play with 10 men for more than an hour after the former Real Madrid man was given marching orders for his tackle on Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

Taylor first gave Casemiro a yellow card but after VAR review with the pitch side monitor, the referee changed his mind and dished out a red card.

United fans were clearly not happy with the decision and have questioned Taylor’s credibility, with some suggesting United needs to appeal the decision, while others think the Premier League need to do more in appointing referees that can make better and fairer decisions.

Casemiro – visibly in an emotional state over the decision – will now be suspended for four matches having received a straight red card against Crystal Palace in early February which earned him a three-match ban.
