‘Lets all laugh at Man Utd’ – Fans react as Red Devils suffer heavy defeat at Anfield
Manchester United were on the receiving end of a heavy 7-0 defeat to eternal rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
It was not a result many saw coming as Erik Ten Hagβs men were in terrific form heading into the game with a 3-1 win over West Ham United in the FA Cup fifth round in midweek and the 2-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Newcastle United last weekend, ending a six-year trophy drought.
Braces from Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and a solo effort from the departing Roberto Firmino did more than enough to hand the Red Devils their worst defeat in 92 years.
It also took the aggregate scoreline in the last 10 league meetings between the two fierce rivals at Anfield to 36-2, and rival fans have taken to social media to express their disbelief, disgust, shock, and of course, banter after the humiliation, with many hoping it signals the beginning of their decline.
