‘Joao Felix is waste of money’ – Fans react to Chelsea loan move
Joao Felix is set to complete a loan move to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid until the end of the season.
According to reports, Atletico Madrid’s demand was initially £19 million but Chelsea struck a £10 million loan deal with an obligation to pay his full wages believed to be £250,000 per week.
Felix moved from Benfica in 2019 for £113 million and he is set to sign a contract extension at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2027 even though his current deal in the Spanish capital runs until 2026.
Fans have taken to social media to show their displeasure over the deal, with some skeptical it will address Chelsea’s goalscoring problem.
Meanwhile, Felix will become the 17th player signed since Todd Boehly took over the club last May from Roman Abramovich.
Buying finished Joao Felix when you're already 10th and struggling in EPL?😭😭😭

Chelsea just throw players at problems Joao Felix the latest. Look at Everton & United. Just signed anyone. It hasn't fucking worked. They're still shite. Loads of new players isn't always the answer. But make no mistake. Liverpool need at least 2 NOT injury prone midfielders!🍻

• €11m loan fee (6 months)
• 100% salary covered (£280k/week)
• No buy option/obligation
• Before leaving, will sign new contract with Atletico until 2027
Would've loved us to sign Joao Felix, but Man Utd did the right thing to walk away from such terrible deal.— AJ Red Devil (@AJUnitedforever) January 10, 2023
Joao Felix could prove to be a good signing but £10 for a 6 month loan really? Bit much that. Especially when hes signing a new deal with Athletico first and there is no buy option involved apparently. #CFC #ChelseaFC #Chelsea #joaofelix

Joao Felix from a small team in Spain to a small team in England…🤣😂

Joao Felix will come to play as a strik… oh don’t think he’s physical enough for that … maybe he can play as a left w… oh Sterling is already there , just maybe he can play as a number 1… oh Mount seems undroppable in the squad.
Why exactly is Chelsea signing him again?

The whole Joao Felix thing is weird. The only reason he’s thought of as anything other than a good, promising young player is the fee Atleti paid for him, a fee that was facially absurd at the time.

I hope Joao Felix will turn things around for Chelsea in these 6 months cos it's a complete waste of money.
Pay his full wages, pay €11m loan fee & guess what, man will extend his contract at Atletico till 2027 before leaving.
Man is coming to London for just FRESH AIR. 😭🤣

Arsen Zakharyan on Joao Felix's possible move to Chelsea
"What 111€ mln? It's a loan. We have already discussed everything with him [Felix] [joking].

Never been a big João Felix fan. Have taken plenty of pops at him when he was, imo, underperforming in La Liga. But it seems Potter signed off on this and a dry loan prioritizes short term help, so I’m not complaining. Hoping he proves me wrong and uses the talent he clearly has.

João Felix is great player, but this move is tough to gauge after issues at Atletico. I’m also not unsure he really solves Chelsea’s scoring issue. Only 4 through 14 this year and 8 through 24 last year. I don’t think it’s bad business but they do need a definitive goal scorer. https://t.co/oUmp2iIXiD pic.twitter.com/PFOvKcmbl9

João Félix will downgrade under Graham Potter, he needs a top manager not British Ck Akonor. pic.twitter.com/tDXrWremyq

João Félix buy shows the muddled state of Chelsea at the moment. The team is struggling from all fronts including at the Board level. Anything on top of a weakened foundation will just paper over the cracks because the building will eventually fall.
