Amusan breaks African record in Paris Diamond League meet
Nigerian Hurdler Tobi Amusan has set a new African Record after winning the women’s 100 metres Hurdles event at the Paris Diamond League meeting in France.
Amusan, who narrowly missed a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, continued her stellar showing this season by finishing in a time of 12:41 seconds ahead of Bahamian athlete Devynne Charlton who finished in a time of 12.63 seconds.
The Nigerian has also set a New African Record, breaking compatriot Gloria Alozie’s time of 12:77 seconds which was set on August 19, 1998.
Amusan’s record is the third-fastest time in the world in 2022 behind Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the reigning Olympic champion who ran 12.37 seconds early this month in Rome and Alaysha Johnson of the USA who ran 12.40 seconds in New York.
