Arsenal would be crazy to let Nketiah go – Crooks warns
Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks believes Arsenal have found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s replacement in Eddie Nketiah.
Aubayemany left North London on a free transfer in January to join Barcelona after falling out of favour at the club.
Meanwhile, Nketiah has started the Gunners’ last five matches and his contribution of four goals in the process, has boosted the team’s chances of returning to the UEFA Champions League next season.
On Saturday, the Ghanaian descent scored a first-half brace that fired Arsenal to a 2-1 triumph over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.
The 22-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the club and Mikel Arteta’s side could lose him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
“It looks like Arsenal have finally found a striker to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang,” Crooks explained in his BBC Sport column.
“I find it extraordinary that a 22-year-old English forward, who finds himself at a club like Arsenal and playing the football of his life, hasn’t had his future nailed down by the club.
“He clearly has all the attributes that make a top player. Even if Arsenal were to buy a renowned goal scorer they would be crazy to let Nketiah go.”
