Colombia legend Freddy Rincon dies after car accident
Former Colombia and Real Madrid star Freddy Rincon has passed away on Thursday after suffering head injuries in a car accident.
Rincon’s car collided with a bus in the Colombian city of Cali on Monday which resulted in critical injuries for him and his passengers.
The former Colombia midfielder who retired from football in 2004, won the 2000 Fifa Club World Cup and the two Brazilian league titles with Corinthians. He also enjoyed success in Colombia with America de Cali and Independiente Santa Fe.
His former clubs, Corinthians, Napoli and Real Madrid confirmed the tragic news with condolence messages on their websites.

“Real Madrid C. F., its president and board of directors are deeply saddened by the passing of Freddy Rincón, who played for Real Madrid between 1995 and 1996,” read a statement on Real Madrid’s website.
“Real Madrid wishes to express its condolences and warmth to all of his family members, teammates, coaches, clubs and loved ones.
“Rincon passed away at the age of 55. Real Madrid wishes to extend its condolences to the whole Real Madrid family.”
