Ivory Coast part ways with French coach Beaumelle
Patrice Beaumelle has left his role as the head coach of the Ivory Coast national team.
The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) opted not to renew the 43-year-old’s contract which ended at the end of March.
Beaumelle was appointed as the Elephants’ head coach in November 2020 after playing an assistant role during Herve Renard’s reign in the country and they won the 2015 AFCON title.
“Appointed on March 4, 2020 as the head of the national team A of Cote d’Ivoire, the contract of Elephants coach Patrice Beaumelle came to an end on April 6, 2022,” read a statement on the FIF website.
“The French technician led the Elephants to the last AFCON in Cameroon where they came out of the competition in the round of 16.”
Ivory Coast failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and they were also eliminated from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in the round of 16 against Egypt via penalty shoot-out.
Beaumelle recently led Ivory Coast in international friendlies against France and England, which ended in back-to-back defeats in March.
