‘Benzema’s head gives joy’ – Fans hail Real Madrid star’s heroic display
Fans are raving about Karim Benzema’s header that secured Real Madrid’s progress to the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Although they suffered a 3-2 loss to Chelsea on Tuesday night, Benzema scored a crucial extra-time goal that helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side overcome the reigning champions with a 5-4 aggregate win.
The France star scored a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge last Wednesday to give Real Madrid a 3-1 win in the first leg and he rose up to the occasion once again.
Benzema found the back of the net in the 96th minute of extra-time with his header off Vinicius Junior’s cross.
His latest finish and goalscoring contributions for the Blancos this season have made him fans’ favourite for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
