Sadiq continues fine scoring run in Almeria
Umar Sadiq continued his scoring run at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos with the opening goal for Almeria in their 3-0 win over Ponferradina on Monday night.
The Nigeria striker has scored in six consecutive home games for Rubi’s men with a tally of eight goals since December 11.
Sadiq started the party for the hosts in the 16th minute while second-half goals from Arnau Puigmal and Inigo Eguaras secured their maximum points.
The victory boosted Almeria’s push for La Liga promotion as they are second in the Spanish second-tier table with 66 points after 35 games, a point behind leaders Eibar.
Sadiq who moved to Spain from Partizan Belgrade in 2020, has established himself as a key player in Almeria and he is the team’s top scorer this season with 16 goals in 29 league appearances.
He will be expected to maintain his form when Almeria visit third-placed Real Valladolid for their next league fixture on Saturday.
