Morocco appoint Senegal’s Sylla as Beach Soccer head coach
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) have confirmed Senegal’s Oumar Sylla as the new head coach of the Moroccan national beach soccer team.
Sylla replaces Mustapha El Haddaoui at the helm of duty in the North African country after helping Senegal win three Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations titles in a row and three successive appearances in the Beach Soccer World Cup.
He was first appointed coach of the Senegalese beach soccer team in 2016, and he steered them to glory on the continent just as he enjoyed during his playing career when he won the BSAFCON in 2008 (South Africa), 2011 (Morocco) and 2013 (Morocco) as a player.
After back-to-back eliminations in the quarter-finals of the Beach Soccer World Cup, Sylla got his breakthrough in August 2021 when he guided his team to the semi-final stage in Russia.
The move by FRMF is expected to prepare Morocco for the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted by Mozambique later this year.
