Salah scored his eighth goal in the 2021/2022 Uefa champions league against Inter Milan, to put Liverpool on top in the tie.

Liverpool defeated Inter Milan 2-0 yesterday in the first leg of the round of 16 at the San Siro stadium courtesy of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The first half ended in a goalless boring draw, with both sides recording no shot on target.

However, the AFCON champion, Sadio Mane had a great opportunity to put Liverpool ahead in the fifteen minute, but sends his header wider of goal. Inter milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu shot also hit the crossbar in the 16 minute.

Roberto Firmino replaced the injured Diogo Jota in the 46th  minute, and scored the first goal of the match after 29 minutes by a powerful header from Andy Robertson’s corner.

Liverpool got their second goal in the 83rd minute through Mo Salah, after his deflected shot found the back of the net.

This win put the Reds in a commanding position heading into the second leg at Anfield, leaving the Nerazzuri a difficult task to overturn the deficit in the return leg on March 8.

In the second game yesterday’s night, Salzburg drew Bayern Munich yesterday 1-1 after Coman’s late goal.

The Nigerian, Chukwubuike Adamu had earlier put the home side ahead in the 21st minute.  Adamu was born in Nigeria, but plays for the Austria National football team.
