AFCON 2021: Dango Ouattara’s moment of brilliance sends the Stallions to the final 4

392views

Dango Ouattara’s solo goal gives the Stallions the advantage and sees Burkina Faso through to the semifinals after beating Tunisia 1-0 at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Dango Ouattara scored the decisive goal at the stroke of halftime, a wonderful mixture of pace, skill and calm decision-making, sending a couple of Tunisian defenders off to the shops. But he’ll miss next week’s semi-final, having been given his marching orders for crumping his elbow onto Ali Maaloul’s jaw with ten minutes left to play in regular time.

The referee blew the full-time whistle with 16 seconds of added time still remaining, not sure it would have made any difference for Tunisia as Burkina Faso had a free-kick and were taking their time.

Burkina Faso reach the semi-finals for the third time in the last nine years and they will face Senegal or Equatorial Guinea, with both sides meeting on Sunday.

  1. Burkina Faso made my day….they played good football…match the Tunisians skill for skill….they also learnt from Nigeria’s mistakes…..they could have scored more but their inexperience was also at play….I hope they get much better….Congratulations to them…
