AFCON 2021: We are not afraid of any team says Equatorial Guinea assistant coach, Castor Napo

Ahead of today’s game between the National Thunders and Ivory Coast, assistant coach of Equatorial Guinea, Castor Napo says bring it on, they can perform against any team including the Elephants. 

Equatorial Guinea are in group E along side Ivory coast, Algeria and Sierra Leone. They will battle it out in their first game at AFCON 2021 against Ivory coast before taking on Algeria and Sierra Leone.

Prior to today ‘s game against Cote d’Ivoire , Castor Napo, assistant coach of Equatorial Guinea spoke with full confidence that they are not afraid of the other 23 teams in this competition including the Elephants.

Although, the National thunders are labeled underdog, Napo believes no team should be written off, every team stands a chance of fulfilling their ambition.

He further said concerning Cote’ d’Ivore that they are a great team, but the last time they encountered they played a 1-1 draw, to further buttress his statement that they are not different from other participants and they can challenge the so-called best teams.

“We are not afraid of any team. We are like the 0ther 23 teams here and we will defend our chances. Cote d’Ivoire is a great team, but the last time we played against them it was a 1-1 draw”- as quoted by CAF.

He added:

“This AFCON will be very special for everyone. It’s a great competition and just because we’re going to play the tournament outside our country doesn’t mean we don’t have ambitions”.

The Nzalang Nacional will engage Ivory Coast later today in their opening game of the Africa cup of Nations 2021. Algeria and Sierra Leone have already earned a point each in the match 1 of 3 of Group E with a goalless score line yesterday.

If the Equatorial Guinea are able to do the impossible today, and defeat Ivory Coast, they would be in a good position to qualify to the next round.
