Ghana legend Gyan begins coaching course in Wales
Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan is already preparing for life after active football by signing up for his coaching badges in Wales.
The 36-year-old left Accra on Saturday, June 11 to begin the course in Wales and is expected to be in class for a six-day programme for a Football Association of Wales’ UEFA B License certificate, a coaching course which has been taken previously by former players such as Yaya Touré and Thierry Henry.
The former Sunderland forward was also pictured taking a Football Association of Wales residential coaching course with a number of other former and current players.
The picture was shared on Twitter by a former player of League Two club, Newport County, Sam O’Sullivan.

Gyan had previously expressed an interest in possibly taking up a coaching role with the Black Stars by stating; “It’s something I’ve given a lot of thought to. I’ve received a lot of calls suggesting that I venture into coaching. I’d like to handle the Black Stars as a strikers’ coach, but everything takes time.”
Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals, and with six goals, he is the all-time African top scorer at the FIFA World Cup.
